Roots Of Connection
Human connection is more than a luxury; it’s a necessity woven into the fabric of who we are. At our core, we thrive not as isolated individuals but as part of a greater whole—a community that supports, uplifts, and inspires. Science confirms what we instinctively feel: meaningful relationships improve our physical health, ease stress, and enhance our emotional well-being. Community grounds us during life’s storms, offering a sense of belonging that nourishes the heart and mind. I had a beautiful experience with this form of connection on my most recent journey in Mexico where I met my wonderful friend, Sofia, who’s personal business venture is now one of Atmosphere’s primary wellness collaborations.
WHERE WE MEET
One of the reasons I love traveling is the connections that you can make from stepping outside of your comfort zone. You are somewhere you have never been, maybe you don’t know a single person there, maybe you don’t even speak the language. What do you have to lose?
I met Sofia after teaching my most recent retreat on the west coast of Mexico. It was a full coincidence that our paths crossed. She was a stranger swimming in the waves of this tucked away cove with two dogs and two male friends. Sofia ran to grab her camera to capture the moment with her friends and two dogs,
My roommate Sedona and I both had commented how gorgeous and full of joy this girl was, so of course, I offered to take their picture together so that they could all be in it. She was glowing in the shot so I offered to take some of just her in the sunset. They turned out AMAZING. We all got to talking and Sofia mentioned that her job is in health and wellness. She does cold plunges, infrared sauna, meditation and breath work locally in Guadalajara Mexico. Our connection was instant and both felt that we were compatible as friends, as well as business collaborators. It all unfolded beautifully and I could not have asked for a more natural coincidence.
I have linked Sofias business, Essenzia Wellness below. I encourage you to take a look at what she does. It is all based in health and nervous system regulation and if you are ever in Guadalajara, reach out to her!
Our health and happiness are deeply rooted in the connections we cultivate. Community and friendship remind us that we’re never truly alone—that our stories, joys, and even awkward moments are all part of being human. Of course, forming these connections often means stepping out of our comfort zones. It might look like joining a new group, striking up a conversation, or saying yes to an invitation when it feels easier to stay in. But those small, brave steps can lead to some of life’s most meaningful relationships.
When we dare to connect, we discover the beauty of shared laughter, support, and belonging. So, take a chance—reach out, lean in, and let those roots of connection grow.
